Music • Music Therapy • Alzheimer's • Memory Loss • Dementia
The Music and Memory program provides music therapy in the form of customized iPod playlists for older adults with memory loss. The client's family works with a trained nurse or volunteer to develop a customized playlist of music from the client's lifetime, which they can listen to using the iPod provided. This can be used to reduce reliance on anti-psychotic drugs and can help patients tap into positive memories/emotions from the past. It has been shown to minimize the effects of sundowning, as well.
- For adults with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory loss.
- The program serves primarily older adults, ages 55 and older.
- This service is free
